Zion Hiking Tours & Vacations

Zion National Park is a must-see Utah destination, especially for travelers who love nature, the outdoors and hiking! It is a complex and stunningly beautiful series of canyons carved out over millions of years by the Virgin River and powerful weather events. Zion is like the Grand Canyon but it towers above us instead of below, and the geologic layers in continue the historical story told by Grand Canyon's below-ground strata.

We offer multiple Zion hiking tours that explore Southern Utah's national parks, many of them combining Zion with other Southwest and Utah highlights like Bryce, the Grand Staircase-Escalante, and Grand Canyon. We offer camping-based and inn-based Zion tours that showcase the best of Utah's Canyon Country on day hikes complimented by wonderful camping or lodge-based accommodations. We also offer Zion Day Hike Tours for folks with less time who want to maximize their experience with the help of an expert!

Our commitment is to hire and train the best Zion hiking guides in the industry. To ensure this we seek out career-minded guides, hire them as employees, abide by all labor laws (which is rare in the outdoor industry), conduct extensive staff trainings, and require current medical and professional certifications. In addition to technical competency and credentials, we also require excellent people skills. These extraordinary men and women have the ability to turn a great Zion hiking tour into an unforgettable, inspiring - and sometimes truly life changing - adventure. We invite you to read more about them - including reviews for each guide - on our Meet Our Team page.

3. Fantastic Meals and Top of the Line Gear

To provide fantastic food to our guests we customize our menus based on the preferences of the group, and we do not use dehydrated backpacking meals - you can expect abundant, delicious food to fuel and motivate you on our Zion hiking trip! We also regularly accommodate specialty diets.

Gear must be optimally dependable, durable and functional, so we purchase from only the best outdoor gear companies like Osprey, Black Diamond, and MSR.

4. Comprehensive Risk Management

Safety on our Zion hiking tours is the number one priority. All Zion hiking guides are certified Wilderness First Responders or EMTs, and each carries a field-issued first aid kit, comprehensive list of medical protocols, and a state-of-the-art emergency communication device. We also have a 24-hour on-call line that our staff, guests, and family members of guests can call any time (literally) to speak with a company representative.

5. All-inclusive Tours
all-inclusive hiking tours

Some Zion hiking companies don't provide sleeping bags, sleeping pads, backpacks and other items, or they charge "gear rental" fees for use of these items - on our trips those items are fully included in the trip price. What about meals, permit fees and transportation fees? All totally included. (Some Zion day hikes meet just outside the Park and utilize park shuttles.)

More Information About Zion Hiking Tours

The Wildland Trekking Utah Experience

We offer many ways to explore and discover Utah, with tours in Zion, Bryce, Grand-Staircase-Escalante, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and the Paria Slot Canyons. When you hike with us in Zion, you can expect to have an unforgettable experience that takes you to the must-see highlights of the national park(s) we're visiting, but also off-the-beaten-path hikes that show you some of the undiscovered gems as well. The camping accommodations in Utah are comfortable and scenic, and the lodging is in hand-picked hotels, cabins, and inns that put you right where the action is.

Why Hike Zion?

Zion is one of Utah's most popular national parks, and for very good reason. Zion is sort of an above-ground Grand Canyon, in that the geologic layers are as sheer and stunning as in Grand Canyon, but they ascend up to buttes and mesas instead of descending down into canyons. Defined by 7 geologic layers and the famous Virgin River Narrows, Zion is a hiking paradise with hiking trails appropriate for all abilities. Our Zion hiking tours include a Zion basecamp tour; Zion and Bryce lodge-based tour; and Best of Utah inn-based and basecamp tours; and a Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon inn-based tour.

Can I Hike Zion without a Tour Guide?

Absolutely. Many visitors choose to hike in Zion National Park without a guide, and many choose to hike with a guide. So what are the benefits of hiring a guide? We provide backpacks, trekking poles, snacks, lunch, and crampons in winter, but that's small stuff. The primary benefit of joining a guided hiking tour is that a good guide can bring a place to life in a way that is different from hiking on your own. They convey the most interesting historical facts and stories, point out amazing features and tidbits of knowledge, set context of place so you can really feel the power of where you are, and share their personal passion which can't be underestimated! Whether you hike with a guide or not though, Zion deserves a day of exploration on foot to really connect with its power and wonder.
