October in Yosemite one of the best times of year to be in the park. The number of visitors has severely decreased, so the crowds are much more manageable. Another perk to visiting this time of year is most of the trails are open, giving you hundreds and hundreds of miles of trail to choose from. Tioga Road is still open in October, although services are closed in September, and there is no overnight parking after September 14th. Also, while Yosemite is not known for it’s impressive fall colors since most trees are evergreen, the maples, oaks and dogwoods put on a show in mid-October.
