Utah's Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument offers a wealth of hiking and backpacking adventures. Llamas make those adventures better for multiple reasons. First, llamas are low-impact pack animals that transport our supplies in and out of the backcountry with very little impact on the natural environment. Their feed is easily carried into the backcountry and their hooves (unshoed) are light on the trails. Second, llamas are just plain awesome! They are wonderful trail companions and they love to walk in the wilderness with their human counterparts. Many of our guests have a difficult time saying goodbye to their furry friends at the end of the trip because the human-llama bonding process is truly powerful and authentic, similar to horses and dogs.
