Explore the magnificent and phenomenally diverse hiking and trekking to be had in South America's rich Andean Highlands, towering volcanoes, and Galapagos Islands on a Wildland Ecuador hiking adventure. There is no where else in the world where one can experience the amount of biodiversity and spectacular range of climactic zones that Ecuador offers. If you appreciate hiking, adventure, and natural history then you will absolutely love Ecuador!
Our trips in Ecuador focus on Laguna Quilotoa, Volcan Cotopaxi and the fascinating and beautiful Galapagos Islands. We offer an Inn to Inn hike (Quilotoa Trek) which takes us from inn to inn through the rural and mountainous Andes; a lodge-based tour that acclimatizes guests on a series of treks and culminates with an ascent of Cotopaxi, Ecuador's highest mountain; and a lodge-based tour of the Galapagos Islands.

Ecuador is a small coastal country that spans a diversity of landscapes and ecosystems, from the high Andes, to cloud forests and extremely biodiverse foothills, to coastal areas and of course the famous Galapagos Islands. It is arguably one of the most underrated trekking destinations in the world. What makes Ecuador so fantastic for a hiking vacation is that it's home to a chain of volcanoes and calderas that make for exceptional trekking: Cotopaxi, Quilotoa, Chimborazo, Cayambe, Antisana...the list goes on. These Ecuador volcanoes are high, wild, and stunningly beautiful. Additionally, Ecuador has multiple factors that make it a convenient location for trekking vacation: it uses US Dollars as its currency so no currency exchange necessary; it's a short 4-hour flight from many Southern U.S. cities; it has wonderful, year round weather; and it's politically stable.
Many trekking enthusiasts hike Ecuador without a trekking guide, and many hike it with a guide company. The advantages of going with an Ecuador trekking company, like Wildland Trekking, are many:
Ecuador offers so much to visitors. We feel strongly that the trekking in Ecuador is the greatest highlight, but while you're there you might as well turn it into an even grander vacation! Galapagos is of course an excellent addition to an Ecuador hiking tour. But we also recommend visiting the amazing beaches and cities for an all-around experience. For a great beach destination we recommend Playas, which is on the south coast of the Santa Elena Peninsula, and offers wonderful amenities without big crowds. And for cities, we heartily recommend spending time in Guayaquil, which isn't far from Playas, to see its monuments, waterfront walks and shops, colorful neighborhoods, museums, restaurants and more.
