Our hiking and backpacking tours are always small group adventures with never more than 12 guests, and most of the time between 5-10, per trip. What this means for you is you're joining a personalized hiking vacation that prioritizes quality of experience above all else.

3. Exceptional Certified Guides
Wildland Hiking Guide in Grand Canyon

Our commitment is to hire and train the best guides in the industry. To ensure this we seek out career-minded guides, hire them as employees (not independent contractors), conduct periodic staff trainings, and require current medical certifications. In addition to technical competency and credentials, we also require excellent people skills. These extraordinary men and women have the ability to turn a great get-away into an unforgettable, inspiring - and sometimes truly life changing - adventure. We invite you to read more about them - including reviews for each guide - on our Meet Our Team page.

4. Fantastic Meals and Top of the Line Gear
hiking tour company

To provide exceptional meals we customize our menus depending on the preferences of the group, and we never use freeze-dried backpacking meals - you can expect hearty, delicious meals that will optimally fuel and inspire you during your trip! We also regularly accommodate vegetarian, vegan, kosher, non-gluten and other specialty diets.

As for gear, we provide equipment with a retail value of approximately $1,000 per guest. That's because we use only the best - Osprey and Deuter backpacks, Sierra Designs and Mountain Hardware tents, Sierra Designs sleeping bags, Therm-a-Rest sleeping pads, and MSR stoves and cookware.

5. Comprehensive Risk Management
hiking tour company

All of our guides are either certified Wilderness First Responders or EMTs, and each carries a field-issued first aid kit, comprehensive list of medical protocols, and a satellite phone. We require new guides to attend a comprehensive training to ensure they meet our standard of quality before putting them in the field, then we monitor their performance closely through post-trip evaluations and debriefs. Finally we have a 24-hour on-call line that our staff, guests, and family members of guests can call any time (literally) to speak with a company representative.

6. Knowledgeable and Timely Customer Service
hiking tour company

We have 12 knowledgeable Adventure Consultants ready to help you find the right trip and get prepared for it. All are experienced hikers and travelers (many of them guides), so the assistance they provide is grounded in real wilderness and world experience. Also, we're open everyday so you can get answers to your questions any day of the week!

7. All-inclusive Tours
all-inclusive hiking tours

Many tour companies don't provide sleeping bags, sleeping pads, backpacks and other items, or they charge "gear rental" fees for use of these items - on our trips those items are fully included in the trip price. What about meals, permit fees and transportation fees? All totally included.

8. Online Gear & Apparel Store to Outfit Your Trip

My husband and I went on the Havasu Falls trip in mid-May. It was even better than we expected. Betsy and Seamus were our guides and did an outstanding job. The food was plentiful, fresh and delicious. They pampered us by doing all the preparation, cooking and cleaning. They freely shared their knowledge about geology, plants, culture, birds, and whatever we were interested in. And they know a lot! My husband and I are considering other trips with Wildland Trekking Company. Before the Havasu trip he wasn't convinced that the service was worth the fee. He's a believer now.

Your staff were amazing accomodating and helping me with my last minute reservation. You have a gem of a guide on your team. Chris Hoge has a brilliant combo of upbeat personality, toughness, safety consciousness and local natural knowledge in one of the most unforgiving and beautiful pieces if the planet. I don't think anything can beat this trek! Thanks to all.

Another completed hike from our bucket list. Ashley was just amazing. Ashley explained the formation of the canyon, and a specialist on the rock geology. Ashley is a great cook to boot. She even catered to a gluten free team member with ease even under a hiking/camping environment. The 3 days spent on the trails was fabulous and Ashley's skills as a guide who likes to explain the plan for today and the next so there are no surprises made the trip a very memorable one. ( Remember harder than Kili Ashley !!! ) I hope to spend more time in the canyon someday and hopefully a R2R with your team will be added to our bucket list.

My wife and I hiked with a guide from Wildland Trekking named Eddie Bowers into Havasu Canyon where we stayed for 2 nights. The entire experience was awesome. Eddie prepared excellent meals and organized the activities for each day. Eddie stayed with us throughout the day and made sure that everything went well. He was patient and kind and knowledgeable. The canyon and the series of falls down the canyon are dramatically beautiful and I would have no hesitation recommend this trip.
