Description

This is one of the world’s great hikes, encompassing the incredible views from Glacier Point and the awesome spectacle of the Mist Trail. It begins with a shuttle from Yosemite Valley to Glacier Point. After a quick walk out to the incomparable Glacier Point, the trail descends southward to a crossing of Illilouette Creek just above the falls of the same name. Views of Half Dome, Vernal and Nevada Falls, Little Yosemite Valley, and the peaks and domes of the Yosemite high country are ever changing. Beyond the creek, a six hundred foot ascent traverses the top of the Panorama Cliffs and leads to a steep descent through a cool Douglas fir forest to the top of Nevada Falls. After a leisurely lunch, the trail passes Liberty Cap, the foot of Nevada Fall, the Silver Apron, and Emerald Pool before descending the awesome Mist Trail to the trails end at Happy Isles on the Yosemite Valley floor. Here, a snack bar offers refreshments and the Park shuttle provides transportation to other points in the Valley.

Weather in the Sierras

Being a high mountain environment, the Sierra Nevada Mountains are prone to sudden temperature and weather shifts. This is an exciting aspect of being in the mountains. On trips in June, snow is a possibility, and the rest of the summer rain is always a possibility on your trip. To be fully prepared, please follow the recommended clothing list closely (this list comes as part of your trip packet when you register). See below for average summer temperatures:
