Description

This trip has been discontinued. Apologies for any inconvenience.

This hike is an excellent choice for families or people looking to enjoy a shorter hike. We meet in Ashton, Idaho and caravan to trailhead. The road to the trailhead is a good gravel road, but is very confusing so caravanning with your guide is important. Our hike starts right at Cave Falls, which is the widest waterfall in Yellowstone along the mighty lower Bechler River. From here we will hike a little over 2 miles through lodgepole pine forests and scenic meadows to Bechler Falls where we will enjoy a picnic lunch next to the river and waterfall. The Bechler River is full of trout and sports many wild berry species along its banks, which attract wildlife, so we will keep our eyes and cameras ready to catch views of wildlife throughout the hike. We are sure to see many song birds, raptors and other wildlife along this trek, including possible sightings of bison, bears, wolves, coyotes and more.

Please note: this hike is operated by Wildland Llamas, a separate company from Wildland Trekking. Wildland Llamas is a licensed stock outfitter and guide company in Yellowstone National Park.

Weather in Yellowstone

Being a Northern mountain environment, Yellowstone is prone to sudden temperature and weather shifts. This is an exciting aspect of being in Yellowstone. To be fully prepared, please follow the recommended clothing list closely (this list comes as part of your trip packet when you register). See below for average summer temperatures in Yellowstone:
