In a remote part of Northern Arizona, near the Grand Canyon but not in the Grand Canyon, is a stunning backpacking route in the Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness. Famous among Southwest hiking and backpacking enthusiasts for its outstanding scenery, Paria Canyon is characterized by towering cliffs, arches, enormous amphitheaters, and forested highlands. This area is home to some of the most famously photographed slot canyons in the Southwest, one of which we spend a day exploring (Buckskin Gulch). High desert wildlife is abundant with deer and desert bighorn sheep inhabiting the region, and we'll keep our eyes out for the plentiful raptors and scavengers that inhabit the skies (eagles, hawks, goshawks, owls, vultures and the famous California Condors.)
We offer a 3-day backpacking trip (Paria Canyon and Buckskin Gulch) and a 5-day backpacking trip (Paria Canyon to Lees Ferry), both all-inclusive trips originating from St. George, Utah. If you're ready for an unforgettable adventure in the heart of Canyon Country, give us a call at 800-715-HIKE (4453) to book a spot today!
