Experience the world famous "Red Canyon", one of the most geologically unique areas of the Grand Canyon on this unforgettable trekking adventure!

On the first day we hike down the little used New Hance Trail into Red Canyon, where we spend the first night in this unusual geologic area, camping in Red Canyon or by the Colorado River. This canyon's lower elevations are predominately Hakatai Shale, undoubtedly the most brilliant red of any formation in the Canyon.

We then hike west from the beginning of the Tonto Trail at the river. This is the eastern beginning of the Granite Gorge, and we camp at Hance Creek. On the last day we climb Horseshoe Mesa to see the mining ruins and, if time allows, Cave of the Domes before following the Grandview Trail to the Rim.

What's Included?

  • We provide roundtrip transportation from Flagstaff, Arizona to the trailhead and back.
  • Every trip includes a professional, medically trained, friendly wilderness guide.
  • All meals are included from breakfast the first day through lunch on the last day.
  • Top-of-the-line tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, and technical multi-day backpack.
  • You will receive a Lifetime Family Membership entitling you to a lifetime discount of 10% off any trip after your first one!

Where do we Meet?

You will meet your group at Heritage Square (downtown Flagstaff) for an orientation meeting at 4:00 PM the afternoon before the trip begins. Your guide will then pick you up at your hotel the next morning for transport to the trailhead.
