The Wildland Trekking Company Mission

 

Business at the Wildland Trekking Company is guided by four goals:

1. to enrich our guests’ lives
2. to provide impeccable customer service and create lasting relationships
3. to enjoy work on a daily basis
4. to use our business as a tool for conservation

The first goal, enrichment of our guests’ lives, comes naturally from the quality of the experiences we provide - from the form, rhythm and renewing qualities of the beautiful and wild places in which we work. Our first-class customer service comes from our management style and professionalism, and truly caring about what our customers want. Our enjoyment with work comes from our belief that what we are doing is meaningful, and from our passion for sharing the wild places we love with others. The fourth goal, the goal of conservation, is elaborated on below.

Using Our Business as a Tool for Conservation

For us, conservation means any action or policy that promotes long-term sustainability of ecology, economy, and community. The challenge with conservation, however, arises from diverse societal values toward the land, complex land management policies, and complicated legal and political processes. In other words, it takes informed and committed action on the part of citizens to effect progress with conservation.

It is our hope that as we help our guests share the magic of some of the world's remaining beautiful, wild places, that they will join in the effort to save these places for the health and enjoyment of future generations. It is in this spirit that we are members of the following organizations:

Our Partners in Conservation

		The first is 1% For The Planet. This is an alliance of businesses committed to leveraging their resources to create a healthier environment.  As a member of this organization, we recognize a responsibility to and dependence upon a healthy environment and donate at least 1% of our annual net revenue to environmental organizations worldwide.
		The second partnership is with Leave No Trace (LNT).  This is an organization that educates outdoor users about the nature of their recreation impacts and teaches techniques aimed at preventing and minimizing such impacts. The LNT philosophical position is that education is better than regulation. All our trips teach and promote LNT practices.

The Wildland Trekking Company was born from a passion for wild and beautiful land. We promote conservation and protection of the environment not from a sense of duty or obligation, but from a joy that stems from the privilege we’ve had in experiencing some fantastic landscapes.
