Will my guide know much about cultural and natural history?
|
|
You will have the option to learn about the
natural and cultural history of the region you are venturing
into. There is a tremendous amount of fascinating
history to learn about if you're interested. |
| |
|
What first-aid and safety precautions do you take? |
|
Your safety is our top priority. All of our guides are very experienced
in the mountains.
We require all of our guides to be certified as Wilderness First
Responders or EMTs. On many of our tours, the guide also carries a
satellite phone. |
| |
|
Is it OK if I've never backpacked
before? |
|
We do not expect any prior backpacking or
even hiking experience, however backpacking can be a physically
demanding activity. All of our trips are
differentiated by level of difficulty. While planning your
trip, we will work with you to determine the right trip for
your group based on physical abilities, experience, and
desire (easy, moderate, strenuous, or extreme). Regardless
of the difficulty of the hike, you can expect to carry
between a 25 and 45 pound pack (except for inn-based trips,
which will require a 5-10 pound day pack) and the need for
ankle-high trekking boots or very sturdy hiking shoes. We recommend starting an exercise routine several weeks to
several months prior to your trip date, especially if you
live at or near sea level. Many of our trips are at
high altitude, demanding at least a modest level of
cardiovascular fitness. |

|
What equipment will I need? |
|
You will receive an equipment list once we have confirmed
your reservation. We provide backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping
pads, and all cooking gear and eating utensils. |
| |
|
What if I have dietary restrictions? |
|
If you have any diet restrictions
or preferences, such as vegetarian, vegan, or Atkins, please tell us before hand and we will
attempt to accommodate your dietary
wishes and needs at no extra charge. |
| |
|
What is the age limit for children
to go on a trip? |
|
We recommend that
children be age 12 or older to participate on a trip.
If your child is under the age of 12 give us a call and we'll work with you to make a responsible
choice. |
