This is the most
popular hike in the region and deservedly so. It reveals a glimpse of
what Glen Canyon was like before being flooded by Lake Powell, and as
such is a true treasure. Highlights include beautifully sculpted
streambeds, intimate little cascades and waterfalls, deep overhangs and
alcoves, and numerous natural bridges and arches. This route also has
diversity, as we finish with an exciting ascent out of the canyon and
across the slickrock. We love this route but want to forewarn you, the
power of this place awakens strong emotion, which could lead to a
lifetime of road trips in search of more “good times”. Extension: Add an additional day
and we’ll have great opportunities to explore ruins, slickrock routes,
the Escalante River, and/or Steven Canyon/Arch.
