Weather and Safety

WEATHER IN COPPER CANYON

Our Copper Canyon Hikes cover a wide range of elevations, similar to the Grand Canyon. The high point of the trip, the rim, is at 7700 feet, and our basecamp in Urique Canyon is at an elevation of 2500 feet. Because of this range of elevation, there is a significant variation in temperatures and weather. We run tour to Copper Canyon during the spring and fall, when the highs in the Canyon are around 85 degree Fahrenheit and the highs at the rim are around 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Rain is always a possibility, and hail is possible at the rims especially late fall and early spring.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

Your safety is our top priority. Our tours are led by professional guides, all of whom are wilderness-certified first responders or EMT's, each with years of guiding and medical experience. We've developed comprehensive risk management protocols that our guides adhere to in case of an emergency, and most tours carry a satellite phone. If you have any further questions about safety, please contact us at 1-800-715-4453 (HIKE) for more information.
