If you're limited to a couple days or a long weekend and want to maximize your visit to the Canadian Rockies, this three day hiking adventure may be for you. Jasper's Tonquin Valley is famous for it's serene lakes, majestic mountain creeks that drain melting snow from the alpine peaks and glaciers, as well as the Ramparts Range which is one of the most stunning mountain ranges in Canada.
Minutes after we begin hiking, we'll be working our way into a beautiful, narrow canyon called "The Portal." From there we'll ascend into the higher country before traversing some alpine peaks and descending back into the valley. During part of the tour we hike directly at The Ramparts, which grows more and more stunning throughout the hike. The tour is topped off with a long visit to breathtaking Amethyst Lake. Jay Monroe Thorington, an American mountaineer and historian, described the Tonquin Valley as "a unique combination of lakes, precipice and ice... {that} presents itself with a singular beauty almost unequaled in alpine regions in North America." Don't miss it!
