Our Thunder Lake backpacking tour is a high country extravaganza in southern Rocky Mountain National Park.
We hike 6 miles uphill to Thunder Lake, where we camp for three nights in a breathtaking alpine basin. Towering peaks, crystal clear lakes and mountain streams literally surround our camp, which is situated above Thunder Lake looking down onto its enchanting waters.
We'll spend the next two days hiking and exploring these magnificent mountains. On Day 2 we'll climb into the high country above Thunder Lake, which features several beautiful waterfalls as well as signature hiking on classic Rocky Mountain ridges and peaks. On Day 3 we'll venture off trail, hiking our way up North St. Vrain Creek past Martensia Falls to Eagle Lake and the Moomaw Glacier. The combination of waterfalls, alpine lakes and glaciers make these truly unforgettable days in the high country. Day 4 will see us hiking back to the trailhead and bring an end to this remarkable trip.
