FLAGSTAFF DAY HIKES

"What an incredible day it was. The ruins and the volcano were just spectacular. I would call Wupatki a must-see for anyone who finds Native American history and the beauty of open land interesting. This was really the perfect addition to our visit to the Grand Canyon."

  Wupatki National Monument
Description
Fewer than 800 years ago, Wupatki Pueblo was one of the most populated Native American villages in the Southwest. It's inhabitants have moved on, but their structures and the clues to how they lived remain beautifully intact. Choose it as one of your two options and we'll show you the incredible intricacies of this special place!

  Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument
Description
Sunset Crater Volcano emerged from a group of eruptions around 1100 AD. Thunderous explosions affected the surrounding cultures and altered the landscape forever. Some of the lava flows and cinders are still as intact as they must have been 900 years ago. Pick Sunset Crater as one of your two choices and experience the mystery of this natural wonder!

  Walnut Canyon National Monument
Description
Walnut Canyon's cliff dwellings were built and used by the Sinagua peoples from about 1100 to 1250 AD, shortly after Sunset Crater erupted. The canyon is a breathtaking place to explore Northern Arizona's diverse and unique flora and fauna and visit the extraordinary cliff dwellings that hide burrowed beneath its overhangs. Along with Sunset Crater or Wupatki, Walnut Canyon provides a fantastic glimpse into the history of the Colorado Plateau. Don't miss it!
